It’s that time of year that the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin puts on its annual Wildflower Days. For 2009 it all starts March 21 with the Artists & Artisans Festival. Linda has been invited back this year and will be among the 20 artists that will be offering their unique Texas artwork for sale.
The days and hours for the event will be Saturday March 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday March 22, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. We invite you come by and peruse the artwork as well as all the wildflowers on display throughout the Wildflower Center. The Hill Country wildflower show may be sparse this spring but the vast variety of Texas wildflowers on display at the Wildflower Center along with the artist’s festival will make this the place to be to put a spring in your step and joy in your heart.
Artist Dalhart Windberg will be signing his newest print “A Spring Occasion” from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and the proceeds will benefit on-going work at the Wildflower Center.
Shou Ping will be on hand to discuss her wildflower watercolor sculptures that are on display at the McDermott Learning Center and Art Gallery from March 14 to May 31. Both Linda and I admire this very gifted artist and look forward to see her and her newest creations.
Linda will of course have some of her most recent large wild flower artwork, a great selection of smaller original wildflower paintings along with several of her newest designs from our online store. No rain needed to enjoy these floral delights. We hope to see you in Austin next weekend. Pray for more rain!

Linda Has Her Own Austin Art Gallery...
To display her newest Texas wildflower art paintings. At least that is what it felt like after getting 24 of her contemporary wildflower art paintings hung this last Monday at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center. There are 17 new paintings never seen before outside of Casa De Linda Art Studio and Gallery. This art exhibition runs through December 14th so it really is for the next two months anyway, like having a Contemporary Wildflower Art Gallery in Austin Texas.
With ample room and gallery style spot lighting, this is an incredible opportunity to see Linda’s artwork and really have a great viewing experience in a comfortable quiet setting. The McDermott Learning Center and Gallery is the old carriage house that was located behind the historic Driskill Hotel located in downtown Austin Texas at 604 Brazos Street. It was moved and renovated at the Wildflower Center in the 1990’s and has since been used as a venue for fine art exhibitions of Texas and nationally recognized artists. Most of this artwork has revolved around Texas and wildflowers, so Linda’s wildflower paintings feel right at home.
Linda will be having a meet the artist reception this coming Saturday October 18th 2008 from 12 P.M. to 2 P.M. This is a wonderful opportunity to see and discuss this colorful, contemplative Texas artwork. This one-woman art show by Linda Calvert Jacobson officially runs from October 18th to December 14th. If you can’t make the reception there will still be ample time to swing by immerse yourself in this exhilarating Texas contemporary art exhibit.

LADY BIRD JOHNSON WILDFLOWER CENTER HOSTING ONE-WOMAN SHOW FOR LINDA'S ARTWORK THIS FALL

Linda’s wildflower art-inspired watches have proven to be very popular and are flying out the door fast on Bid TV over in the U.K. With these limited-edition watches dwindling down to a few remaining hundred we want to share some exciting news for the folks on this side of the pond.
Linda is honored to be invited back to the world-renowned Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin Texas to offer an exclusive one-woman show of her contemporary wildflower paintings . This exhibit will feature 20 to 30 of these original fine art paintings all under one roof at the McDermott Learning Center which offers a well lit gallery style setting for this display. The exhibit opens on October 18th and runs through December 15th.
The Wildflower Center is named in honor of its co-founder and former First Lady, Lady Bird (Mrs. Lyndon) Johnson. As quoted from the Wildflower Center's website:
"Decades ago, Mrs. Johnson recognized that our country was losing its natural landscapes and its natural beauty. As much as 30 percent of the world’s native flora is at risk of extinction. The Wildflower Center was intended to help preserve and restore that beauty and the biological richness of North America. Since then, the Center has become one of the country’s most credible research institutions and effective advocates for native plants."
If you are in the area or are planning a trip to Austin this fall, be sure to mark your calendar and plan a visit to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Linda will be greeting the public with a "Meet the Artist" reception on Saturday, Oct. 18, during the Center's annual Fall Festival Plant Sale. We'll have more details and news regarding this later but couldn't wait to start getting the word out. What a perfect fit: Linda's colorful wildflower paintings and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center !
