One of the designs being featured on Linda Calvert Jacobson watches being sold in the U.K. on and over the next few days is one of my favorite wildflower paintings: "Dreamy Daze Into Night." This painting really is beautiful on the watches, which come in three different styles of bands. Making them even more special for anyone lucky enough to place a winning bid: these limited-edition, collector watches are available only in the UK. But I have great news for both my English collectors and anyone else who is drawn to this particular painting: I've just added this design to my online store of beautiful gift items! If you own one of the watches, you might want a lovely Keepsake Box to keep it in. Or perhaps you'd like a mouse pad by your computer? It is even available on beautiful porcelain Christmas ornaments! My store is powered by Cafe Press and can fulfill orders placed in the UK, Europe, Canada, and the US, to mention just a few. Best of all, every order comes with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee! Visit my online store to see this and all my other wildflower designs on giftware and cards!

It's here! My new website is complete and ready for the public to view! This website is all about my art and my life as a professional fine artist. You can browse my online gallery of available paintings from my contemporary wildflower series and when you find one you like, drop me an e-mail right from the image you are looking at. I'll let you know if it's still available and we can make arrangements for you to view the work or purchase it. It's just that simple! You can also click into my events calendar under "SHOWS, EXHIBITIONS & SPECIAL EVENTS" to see where I'll be and when. If you are a fellow artist, you might be interested in my "MARKETING SEMINARS FOR ARTISTS" section. And, of course, you can read about me in the "ABOUT THE ARTIST" section or contact me from the website. So head on over to and check it out!

This fall I will again be offering my “Marketing and More” Business Seminars for Artists.

The first seminar, “Self Promotion Basics” covers a wide range of topics from designing marketing materials to writing news releases. Also, artists will learn about utilizing social networks such as Facebook and LinkedIn, pitching to the media, e-mail marketing and more.

The second seminar, “Art Licensing and Other Streams of Income” answers the question “How can I make (more) money with my art?” You’ll learn how art licensing works, setting up an online “print-on-demand” store, organizing small exhibitions, and more.

Each is a one-day seminar held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at my studio/gallery in downtown New Braunfels, Texas. The seminars will be repeated several times but Seminar I must be taken before Seminar II. For Seminar I you choose from Sunday, Sept. 13, Monday, Oct. 5 or Wednesday, Oct. 21. For Seminar II you can choose from Monday, Sept. 14, Sunday, Oct. 11 or Wednesday, Nov. 4. Seating is limited to 8 artists per class.

These seminars will start at $100 each in 2010. But right now you can still get in for a special Fall 2009 introductory fee of only $50 each (or $85 for both if paid and reserved in advance). Fee includes tons of hand outs, refreshments and light snacks. Students will need to bring a sack lunch. Seating is limited to 8 artists per seminar. This is my most recent creation and I'm really proud of it! I've titled this mixed media painting "Wildflowers Light up the Night." It's actually two paintings with one layer over the top of the other. The painting in the back is on stretched canvas measuring 24 by 30. What you can't see very well in the photo are blue rhinestones and tiny glass beads sparkling in the night sky over the field of wildflowers in a distance. The second painting is of the wildflowers in the foreground, which I painted on plexiglas and used spacers to hold it up from the painting in the back so it would give the assembled work depth. On top of the painted plexiglas is another, thinner sheet of plexiglas protecting the painting. We installed the entire piece in deep (1.5 inch) "floater" frame to give it a finished look and protection (as well as a way to hang it) without distracting from the art. It makes it look like the art is floating the black frame!

"Wildflowers Light up the Night" is on exhibit this month in the New Braunfels Art League's Contemporary Art Show. And speaking of the show, you are invited to join us this Friday night(Aug. 7) for the opening reception! The New Braunfels Art League is located at 239 W. San Antonio St in downtown New Braunfels, Texas. Many of the shops downtown, including my Casa de Linda Art Studio and Gallery upstairs will be open this Friday from 5-9 p.m. for the August Friday Night Live event. Hope you drop in for a glass of wine and see this newest painting!
