Fine Art and Fine Dining at Café Josie in Austin, Texas

Linda is proud to announce that a varied collection of her wildflower artwork is hanging in Café Josie in Austin through New Year’s Eve. Linda and I (David, her husband) went up this last Saturday to hang her wildflower paintings in this American Tropics inspired fine dining establishment. The ceiling are high and the spot-lighting are great for showing off her colorful wildflower art.

We first hung “Rapture,” which is an all palette knife scene of wildflowers in an open meadow with a few oak trees off to the side and in the distance. The sunset on the horizon is lit up against a thunderstorm rolling in. “Rapture” is a very unique painting so we set it on a wall by itself.

We next hung five of her more familiar contemporary wildflower series on the back wall, centering in the middle “Wildflowers Fire Dance,” with its strong orange background with a nice mix of wildflowers in the mid and foreground. This is a horizontal painting so we used two vertical paintings, each with strong blue themes, to either side to add a nice contrast. The two outside paintings on this wall were both new pieces: “Wildflower Paradise,” with its deep blue sky and the other, “Sunset Serenade,” with delicate hues of magenta.

The last wall to hang was the focal point for entry to the main dining area and Linda chose several paintings from her “Summer of Luv” series. This is the first time any of this series has been out of New Braunfels and we both are very pleased with the combination of the American Tropic Cuisine and these new wildflower paintings. This Texas inspired art is a wonderful match for a tropical theme. The vibrant colors remind me of visions of the fruits and exhilarating sunsets of the tropics. This series is a great compliment to the bright vibrant colors of the tasty dishes served at Café Josie in my humble opinion.

After getting all 13 paintings hung and positioned we both spent some well-earned time admiring the setting and the new ambiance just created. We look forward to hearing from Café Josie customers on how they feel about this new art exhibit and hope that it adds to their dining pleasure.

Café Josie is located in the heart of the art district at 1200 B West 6th Street just off from Downtown and is just behind Wally Workman Art Gallery. You can check out their menu and other pertinent information at cafejosie.com.
