CASA DE LINDA ART CENTER NEW BRAUNFELS OPENING SEPT. 1

We've been working on something really big for the last month and I'm ready to start sharing the news with everyone. Casa de Linda is expanding! We've rented a 1200-sq-ft retail space at 850 South Business IH 35 in New Braunfels where we are setting up two teaching studios and a small gallery/gift shop. We will be open for business on Sept. 1.

David, my husband and partner in business, life and love, has been working overtime getting the place ready while I finished out the Summer Art Camp program at my studio. It's great building but has been around for awhile and was a little neglected and mistreated by previous tenants. But David's been giving it lots TLC (several coats of paint, a thorough cleaning and several layers of wax on the floor) and now it's looking great. I'm posting a before and after photo of front room (which will be the main studio).

It took a lot to cover up that awful green but David did it! This will be much more conducive to our classes, plus it's going to be great for showing off my Wildflower Art and artwork by other artists whose works we'll be exhibiting in our gallery.

We are dubbing this new location: Casa de Linda Art Center. This was after much debate. I "tried on for size" the name Casa de Linda Art School and even went to print with that name for the Fall 2010 Class Brochure. But it just didn't fit and after the order was placed, I came up with Casa de Linda Art Center. (So when you see the brochure, you'll know why it has this temporary name.)

We are keeping the Casa de Linda Studio upstairs at the New Braunfels Art League Gallery where I'll continue to teach, mostly children's classes. This has been my "home" since 2004 and I'm not ready to leave yet! It's also just such a great place to teach children and to introduce them to the world of art as they walk through the beautiful NBAL Gallery downstairs!

The two studios at the new Casa de Linda Art Center will be in use for a wide variety of art classes for adults and older children. To make this happen, the staff has expanded from one (yours truly) to four teachers for Fall 2010: Maren Phillips (who will be teaching Intro to Oil, Intro to Watercolor, Basic Drawing and Advanced Drawing); Lynette Clauser (offering Basic Stained Glass for Adults and Stained Glass Fun for ages 10-16) and David Jacobson (offering Basic Photography and Advanced Photography for Adults and Basic Photography for ages 8-12).

We have a full schedule of art classes, which is now posted on the Casa de Linda website. You can also download a complete brochure, which includes registration forms for both the children and adult program.

Starting Sept. 1, Casa de Linda Art Center will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and by appointment. We are planning an Open House for the Sunday after Labor Day, Sept. 12, from Noon to 5 p.m. Come join us and help us celebrate!
